New footage of the 3rd season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" shows the creation of Sauron's dark artifact
Entertainment Weekly has released new footage from the third season of the Prime Video epic fantasy series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," and the clips center on the forging of the legendary One Ring by Sauron.
The scenes reportedly focus on the ring’s corrupting influence and its intended purpose: a secret weapon the Dark Lord crafts to enslave the elves. Charlie Vickers returns to portray the principal antagonist.
In the footage Sauron appears frustrated by setbacks, using an orc as a test subject while the ring itself is shown enveloped in flames during its creation.
"He's still looking for the perfect recipe," comments the project's showrunner J. D. Payne on the scene. "Sometimes there’s too little heat, sometimes too much. He’s missing a pinch of salt or the right spices. Sauron's magic is still glitchy, but when it comes to the One Ring, everything must be flawless — it has to surpass all the other rings in power."
Morphydd Clark (Galadriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), and Daniel Weyman (Gandalf the Grey) will reprise their roles. Jamie Campbell Bower is listed to play Celeborn, Galadriel's husband.
Season three opens after a substantial time jump and moves viewers into the peak of the large-scale war between the elves and the Dark Lord. The first four episodes premiere on November 11, 2026, with the rest of the season arriving in blocks on November 18 and November 25.
