Arma reforger will make players truly hide and make specialists more useful

A major update — version 1.8 — has been released for the realistic tactical shooter Arma Reforger. Expect fights that feel harsher and more unforgiving. Camouflage systems were reworked, bot behavior tweaked, specialist roles beefed up, and new ways to influence the battlefield were added.

The headline change is the first iteration of the Far Hide system. In practice, that means tall grass no longer reads like a flat green screen at long range; foliage that used to vanish around ~750 m can now obscure troops more believably. Also, vegetation (e.g., grass and camouflage nets) now interferes with AI detection, so stealth matters vs. bots in a way it didn’t before — stealth gets actual teeth.

Specialist roles received a number of practical tweaks. Medics inspect and treat casualties faster and can load them into vehicles with less fuss. Logisticians handle supplies quicker, vehicle crews are better at repairs/refuel/ammo resupplies, and engineers build faster. For field fortifications you only need the one required item on you — the rest will be pulled automatically from your inv., which is a nice QoL touch.

There are smaller additions, too: new gestures and rest animations, underbarrel smoke types for the US loadouts, and mortar smoke that lingers longer. Engineers can lay spiral wire themselves now, and the PKMN is compatible with the 6T5 tripod, w/ or w/o the 1P29 optic.

Finally, Arma Reforger is now on the Microsoft Store (MS Store) with Xbox Play Anywhere support — buy once, play on PC and Xbox.
