A group of fans is developing "Gwent Remake," a mod that aims to transplant the standalone Gwent card game into The Witcher 3 with full functionality. The team says the mod will implement the original rules, cards, and a deck builder, and expand the card pool with more than 500 additional cards.
Technically, Gwent Remake is being built as a native mod that uses The Witcher 3's own interface system. Story characters in the game will be given unique decks and distinct gameplay tactics, mirroring their personalities and roles. The project will be open source, designed to be easy to edit, and will include support for Witcher Online.
Language support will match the standalone Gwent in scope: the developers announced availability in eight languages. They also thanked the creator of a video about Günther O'Dimm, and confirmed the mod will include a special Gwent match against Günther.
As for timing, the team expects to release the mod roughly two to three months after the launch of The Witcher 3 remaster. Support for Witcher Online is planned to follow about a month after the mod's initial release.
