NetEase Games has submitted trademark applications for the name "ECC: Redline" in both the European Union and the United States, filings that have appeared in the EUIPO and USPTO databases. The U.S. application includes a specific description of services as "provision of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG)."
That explicit MMORPG wording is notable because game companies typically use broader, less specific language when registering trademarks to keep options open for multiple formats and product types. The European filing is less detailed and does not, on its own, identify the genre. Taken together, however, the two registrations and the U.S. description point to a possible link between ECC: Redline and a new online role-playing title.
NetEase already develops multiplayer-focused games, including Where Winds Meet and Sword of Justice, and the publisher may be planning another major multiplayer project under the ECC: Redline name. No other concrete information has surfaced so far.
Open NetEase job listings also do not name ECC: Redline, but a few positions — notably Localization Linguist and Narrative & Worldview Designer — include responsibilities related to tasks, events, and storylines commonly associated with MMORPG development, which could loosely align with the trademark filings.
NetEase has not officially announced ECC: Redline. Trademark registration alone does not ensure that a game is in active development or will be released. If ECC: Redline is indeed an upcoming MMORPG, the first public details might only appear after the opposition period for the European application ends, which would be roughly in 2026 or early 2027.
