Leonardo DiCaprio to star in "Heat 2" — filming starts this fall
The publication The Wrap — citing unnamed sources — says Leonardo DiCaprio ("The Revenant") and Christian Bale ("American Psycho") are lined up as the leads on "Heat 2". Production is reportedly due to begin filming in November this year. The pair would play Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) and Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) — an interesting swap of faces for those parts, if the reports hold.
Other names keep popping up in the rumor mill, e.g., Stephen Graham ("Snatch"), Adam Driver ("House of Gucci"), Austin Butler ("Dune: Part Two"), and even Al Pacino himself ("The Godfather"). Who actually turns up on set? That remains to be seen.
The screenplay (and the film’s loose blueprint) comes from the 2022 novel by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner. Mann is attached again as writer-director; he’d earlier mentioned a summer start to shooting (see his prior comments), so the shift to November suggests the usual shuffle behind the scenes — schedules, deals, whatever.
