Starfield replacer spacebourne 2 failed to transition to unreal engine 5

The developers of SpaceBourne 2 finally explained the long silence: recent months were spent trying to move the project from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5, but the effort hit severe technical walls and was abandoned.

It wasn’t a simple compatibility hiccup. The current codebase and project layout made the migration risky — continuing might have introduced instability and fresh bugs — so the team chose to keep the game on its existing technological foundation and pivot back to direct development work.

More hands have joined the effort. A new squad of specialists now works alongside the core devs — devs (backend, UI), QA, and artists — to accelerate bug fixes, technical tweaks, and content prep.

The first visible outcome will be a large update focused on fixes: crashers and reported bugs, stability and performance problems, and other community-flagged issues. After that, a bigger patch will follow that brings new content and features outlined in the previously published roadmap.

The studio says it’s listening to player feedback and that the wait shouldn’t be long: the fix-focused update is coming very soon, with the content update trailing shortly after.
