Official: Konami Intends to Continue Annual Releases of New Silent Hill Titles — Fans Can Expect Very Different Games

Official konami intends to continue annual releases of new silent hill titles fans can expect very different games

Konami has once more signalled an intent to make Silent Hill an annual affair. Producer Motoi Okamoto hinted at this earlier in interviews, and now a company rep brought it up again at Gamescom 2026, this time with somewhat clearer language. The next entry, Silent Hill: Townfall, due next month, is said to close out the current “new wave” of titles Konami unveiled a few years back. Okamoto also said several other projects are already underway—projects most people don’t yet know about.

“We’ve got lots of projects cooking, including ones not announced yet. I can’t go into details now, but let me say it plainly: we’re making new games and testing different ideas carefully. Players should expect a range of releases—some will be surprising, I hope, which is what many fans want from this [Silent Hill] series,” Okamoto said.

According to Okamoto, Konami’s ultimate goal is to fully switch Silent Hill to an annual release format, at least in the foreseeable future. That aim has steered the franchise toward an anthology approach, letting different teams try out varied tones and settings rather than sticking to one fixed template.

“My current aim is to ship a new game every year. If we stick only to the tired American-town setting, the stories run out fast and people will get burned out,” Okamoto explained.

Townfall arrives on September 24. Meanwhile, Konami is developing a remake of the original 1999 Silent Hill, with Polish studio Bloober Team handling production (they put out their take on the cult Silent Hill 2 in 2024: link). Beyond those, other entries haven’t been announced yet—so, e.g., more could pop up from unexpected developers, or the plan could shift if fans react badly.
