Season 4 of the series reacher received excellent reviews from critics the premiere of the first three episodes is today

Four years after its first outing, the Jack Reacher franchise still leans on its blunt-force approach to justice — and, for better or worse, that recipe is working again. Season 4 drops today at 10:00, and most critics have responded positively, though not without a few reservations.

The outlet Radio Times handed the season a perfect 100, praising its tension and, unexpectedly, the quieter moments that land emotionally. Jack Steele wrote that viewers are "in very big and very reliable hands" — a line that feels equal parts nod to the lead’s presence and to the showrunner’s steady steering.

Collider scored it 90 and argued the series manages to avoid staleness; they also flagged the new chapters as darker and, in their view, more testing for the audience than past seasons.

A more tempered take came from RogerEbert (80). Their piece frames this season as a course correction after what some saw as missteps in seasons 2 and 3. Longtime fans, they suggest, will still find the ride deliriously entertaining — the kind of show that makes you cheer (or jump on the couch, apparently).

Screen Rant (80) applauded a risk the writers finally took: making Reacher less untouchable than usual. The effect, according to them, is extra dramatic weight; vulnerability becomes a storytelling lever.

Not everyone was sold. The Playlist gave a 50, flatly concluding the season "just doesn't deliver enjoyment." Their gripe: the premise and antagonist are fine, but poor support performances and thin dialogue drag things down to the point where watching feels awkward rather than fun.

Today at 10:00 the first three episodes premiere; after that, new installments arrive weekly until the mid-September finale — a simple schedule, i.e., binge-adjacent for the opening night and then the slow drip. If you care about spoilers, watch cautiously; if you care mostly about punches and pacing, well, you know the drill.

The episode schedule is as follows:

  • Episode 2: "Cage Fight" - August 12
