Stellaris Patch 4.5.2 Arrives October 6 With Toxic God and Balance Changes

Paradox Interactive has outlined the contents of Stellaris patch 4.5.2, scheduled to launch on Tuesday, October 6. A full developer diary was skipped this week because Eladrin is ill, but the studio still shared a substantial rundown of what players can expect.

Knights of the Toxic God

The headline change affects the Knights of the Toxic God. Once they have tamed or slain the Toxic God, these knights can put their Arks to work converting toxic terraforming candidates into habitable worlds.

Nomads also gain new options: upon reaching the Toxic God system, they can establish a settlement, carrying the Order's Keep and its knights with them to a new homeworld.

Balance Adjustments

Several systems are being rebalanced:

  • Armor upkeep will match that of a shield of the same tier, costing equal energy and alloys instead of double.
  • Maulers are being made slower.
  • Pilot Project bonuses are being reworked, with distinct values for elites, specialists, and workers.
  • Fire Cult will no longer grant a unity bonus. Instead, it will boost Fire Dancers' job efficiency according to each population group's environmental habitability.

Bug Fixes and Performance

The patch also addresses a lengthy list of bugs, including frozen battles, rebellion issues, and faulty behavior in Covenants, Arks, and space fauna. Players can additionally expect AI improvements and fewer micro-freezes late in the game when nomadic empires are present.

Barring any changes to the schedule, the update lands on Tuesday, October 6.
