Tonight Behaviour Interactive ran a livestream to mark Dead by Daylight’s tenth year. The show didn’t tiptoe — it threw a heap of reveals at the community: crossovers, a visual overhaul, and new ways to play.
If you want the headline: new match formats. One is being called "1v1" — basically killer vs. survivor, one-on-one, no perks, no items; pure skill (think duels, not meta tinkering). The other is a "Zombie Mode" where infection is a mechanic: get infected enough and you flip into a monster and start hunting your former teammates.
For modders: from 2027 the studio will open official support. Players get tools to build maps and custom modes (e.g., map editors, scripting hooks); Behaviour plans to curate and publish standout community creations.
Tech-wise, a long, phased visual refresh is scheduled to begin in 2027. Expect better faces and motion, reworked lighting and heavier fog, a more obvious Entity presence, dynamic weather, and gradual new voice lines for legacy characters — all rolled out over time rather than in one dump.
Near-term content rollout:
- June 17: The iconic Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” franchise returns to the list of killers.
- June 26: The original chapter “The Life Road” launches, focusing on a survivor from among the Native Americans of North America.
- August: The chapter “Chorus of Sin” is released — the first time in the game’s history that content was developed in collaboration with the community itself.
- November: A tough crossover is expected with the horror film series “Terrifying,” featuring that very clown.
- 2027: A story chapter based on the studio's own game The Casting of Frank Stone is confirmed.
One final note from the stream: the Dead by Daylight movie is moving forward, and Tordur Palsson is attached as director.
