A major paid expansion Risen Ballbylon announced for arcade roguelike BALL x PIT
During the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct stream, developer studio Kenny Sun and Friends and publisher Devolver Digital revealed Risen Ballbylon, the first substantial paid expansion for the arcade roguelike BALL x PIT. Unlike the three prior free content updates, this add-on will be sold separately.
Risen Ballbylon is scheduled to launch on November 12, 2026, across multiple platforms: Steam for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, as well as on iOS and Android mobile devices.
The expansion upends the original game’s vertical descent premise. Instead of repeated trips down a crater via freight elevator following a meteorite strike, players will ascend into the sky toward a floating city. The developers have imposed a strict progression rule: all expansion content will be inaccessible until a player has fully completed the base game campaign. New content cannot be accessed from a fresh profile or at the start of a playthrough.
Risen Ballbylon adds eight playable heroes, each with distinct mechanics. New characters include the Guardian, who can fire in any direction, and the Wallbreaker, whose shots teleport to the arena’s opposite side after their first wall impact. One of the more tactically demanding additions is Righty: their projectiles deal 200% damage when they bounce off the right boundary but suffer a 50% base damage penalty on the left wall, forcing precise aim and trajectory control.
Combat will expand with 24 new ball types and 20 evolutionary variants imbued with elemental themes such as water, wood, kinetic energy, and wild beasts. Individual projectile behaviors are highlighted by examples: the Beast ball embeds into foes until the enemy dies, the Kaiju ball generates powerful seismic shocks, and the Blight ball inflicts curses on enemy groups. Players can combine effects using 45 new passive boosters, which include vampiric mechanics, unstable explosives, and artifacts that boost luck.
Players will face four floating biomes, each defended by unique bosses and populated by 40 newly introduced forms of mutated enemies.
Settlement mode receives major additions as well. The expansion brings 20 new buildings — among them a floating fortress, a crystal monolith, a field kitchen, and a splitting chamber — and introduces crystals as a new construction resource. Crystals are intended to complicate the settlement’s economy and will require additional time to gather.
Risen Ballbylon will be sold for $6.99.
For context, the original BALL x PIT launched on October 15, 2025. Within a year it sold more than 2 million copies and accrued over 24,000 reviews on Steam, holding an overall approval rating of 93%.
