The "Curse of Ulatek" update for World of Warcraft is scheduled for August 11. Patch 12.1 unlocks Snake Island off the eastern shore of Zul'Aman and pushes the Midnight storyline forward; this area ties into the ancient loa Ulatek.
Expect new activity in that locale. There will be public events. You can fish there as well. Hidden deeper are the Vaults of Atal’Utek. On the gameplay side, balance shifts are coming: overall character health and creature damage go up by 25%, while DPS specs see their burst trimmed back and their steady damage raised — a deliberate nudge at playstyles, for PvE fans and MMO vets alike.
The second Midnight season begins in a week. It brings the Venomous Abyss raid (eight bosses), three Delves, and a Mythic+ rotation that includes Altar of Fangs and Kings’ Rest. Interface tweaks are also part of the package, and a new pet, Jimothy — a short-tailed raccoon born from an internet meme — will appear in the game. How to get Jimothy? Blizzard hasn't said yet, so we wait (and speculate).
