Montage Technology Begins Mass Production of DDR5 Clock Driver Chips

Montage Technology, a Chinese semiconductor company, has launched mass production of two new clock driver chips targeting DDR5 memory. The products cover both consumer-grade computers and high-bandwidth server applications.

The first chip, designated CK01P, is built for current-generation CUDIMM, CSODIMM, CQDIMM and CAMM memory modules. It handles data rates reaching 9200 MT/s. The design relies on a zero-phase-delay architecture, and it lets manufacturers adjust signal parameters to match different memory configurations. Unused outputs can be switched off, which helps cut power usage.

For server environments, Montage is offering the RCD05, which works with DDR5 RDIMM memory and supports speeds up to 8000 MT/s. That figure represents about an 11% improvement in capability over the prior-generation RCD04, according to the company. The RCD05 also adds signal correction and calibration functions that are required to keep operation stable at high frequencies.
