The creators at Crystal Dynamics have put out new character sketches for Lara Croft and her chief rival, Jacqueline Natla - fresh takes meant to sharpen the conflict at the heart of Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis.
Lara Croft (L.C.) is presented as fiercely self-reliant: she counts on her own strength and a razor-focused mind, the sort of physical + mental conditioning that reads like elite training. Yet there's a flip side - an almost compulsive need to unearth other people's secrets, i.e., to push past reason into risky territory. That stubborn secrecy and single-mindedness don't always play in her favor.
Opposite her stands Jacqueline Natla (J.N.), an industrial magnate described with predator-like habits and a tactical brain that doesn't quit. Determination borders on menace; she bulldozes obstacles, allies included. Vanity is her weak point - a swollen ego that fractures trust and eats allies alive.
Development is handled by Flying Wild Hog alongside Crystal Dynamics. This new title isn't a straight port: it's a reimagining of the original game and its 2007 Anniversary update, recasting that material for a modern audience while leaning into a darker hunt.
The plot centers on Lara scrambling for shards of an ancient artifact known as the Legacy - races, traps, and moral compromises follow.
Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis is slated for release on February 12, 2027. Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It'll ship in three editions; buyers of the Deluxe and Collector's eds. get 48 hrs of early access.
