The Double Fine studio has cut staff — 23 ppl are leaving. The founder, Tim Schafer, broke the news and called it a "painful step" that the studio needs to survive. Since Double Fine is no longer part of XBOX, downsizing became one way to keep things running.

Journalist [Jason Schreier] says the studio had about 90 ppl before the cuts, so this amounts to roughly a quarter of the team — Tim Schafer's outfit is noticeably smaller now.
Earlier in July, XBOX announced a broad restructuring: Msft's gaming arm plans to eliminate ca. 3.2k jobs. The shake-up also included parting ways with four studios, among them Double Fine and Compulsion Games.
