Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has released a brief "intro" trailer for Stranger Than Heaven that focuses on the game's protagonist, Makoto Daito. Clocking in at roughly 30 seconds, the clip intercuts narrative moments with combat against assorted thugs, a high-altitude leap, and scenes of fireworks, offering a compact glimpse of the title’s tone and action. The game page is here: Stranger Than Heaven.

Makoto Daito’s backstory explains his conflicted path. Born to an American father and a Japanese mother, he loses both parents and encounters discrimination while living in the United States. Confronted with the choice of remaining in the West or returning to Japan to carve out his future, Makoto opts to go back to his ancestral homeland in 1915.

The narrative of Stranger Than Heaven unfolds across five different eras and five cities, charting Makoto’s coming of age and the various stages of his life. Given the frequency of confrontations the character faces, the developers have placed particular emphasis on a robust combat system.

Japanese actor Yu Shirota provides the portrayal of Makoto Daito. The studio may follow up with additional trailers centered on other characters as the release campaign continues.

Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled to launch on January 15, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The title has surpassed one million wishlists, which sets a record for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
