Media: EA is laying off employees again

Media ea is laying off employees again

As reported by Kotaku, Electronic Arts has launched another round of layoffs. They touch recruitment, customer support (Fan Care), security and parts of IT — the scoop comes from Kotaku's sources and twelve social media posts by people who were let go.

No exact headcount is available. Those affected include remote specialists in the US and staff at the EA office in Hyderabad; several Hyderabad employees have been with the company for over ten years (decade-plus). An internal letter to the Fan Care team quoted the dept. head asking staff to be ready to "adapt their workflows to the constantly changing demands of players." Expect role changes, some new hiring, and a shift of tasks — moved to other teams, other cities, or outsourced.

This is unfolding as EA moves toward private ownership: the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Wealth Fund (PIF) is buying the company. If approved, PIF would take 93.4% of the shares. European antitrust authorities are set to issue a decision by July 22 — a deadline that adds another layer of uncertainty for employees.
