The Saw franchise is getting a new installment, according to reports from Deadline: getting. The project is set to be directed by Mike P. Nelson, who helmed the 2025 slasher Silent Night, Deadly Night.
The screenplay is credited to Gregory Weidman and Jeff Tock, writers known for the series Dune: The Prophecy. Production will involve James Wan (the creator of the first film), original co-writer Leigh Whannell, and the companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. No plot details have been released.
The franchise began with the 2004 feature Saw: The Game of Survival, which introduced the character John Kramer, a man who places victims in lethal tests if they "do not value life." The tenth film, released in September 2023, earned the series' highest critical ratings to date and posted the franchise's best opening box office since 2010.
An eleventh film had been announced with a 2024 release, but after a couple of years reports emerged indicating that that project was canceled.
