Jagex's management revealed that early-access sales for Runescape: Dragonwilds have topped 1.3M copies. The team originally expected roughly 200k (est.), so the final tally—many times higher—caught them off guard. Much of the jump appears to come from China: players there latched on to the game's atmosphere in a way that pushed numbers up fast.
The setting: Ashenfall, a forgotten continent in RuneScape where dragons have stirred awake. The loop is survival-focused and co-op (i.e., play with others): scavenge resources, put up shelters, tinker with gear and settlements, and dig into ancient mysteries. Only by surviving long enough and unraveling those secrets can you hope to face the Dragon Queen.
