Valheim will become 50% more expensive after leaving early access and will receive achievements

The survival title Valheim has been hanging out in early access for over five years and is finally moving to version 1.0. Developers from Iron Gate have laid out the details on their FAQ page.

Price change: the game will cost 50% more after the jump, rising from $20 (before discounts) to $30. If you bought the game while it was in early access, you won’t be charged the difference when 1.0 arrives.

Other important points:

  • With the release of version 1.0, it is not necessary to create a new world in Valheim — all old save files will continue to work. However, to fully experience all the changes, the developers still recommend starting fresh.
  • Achievements will be added, but the system will only start tracking them from version 1.0 onwards. This means, for example, that to unlock an achievement, you may need to defeat the first boss Eikthyr again, even if you have already done so many times. Additionally, achievements will not be granted when cheats are used (even before 1.0). However, the developers will make exceptions for certain commands.
  • Valheim will continue to receive patches with bug fixes and various improvements, but the developers are uncertain about further content updates.
  • Version 1.0 will focus on the "Deep North" biome, so do not expect updates to the oceans.
  • Several aspects of the game were optimized for version 1.0: they reduced micro-lags when loading new zones, sped up saving, and made many minor improvements throughout the game.

Valheim will leave early access on September 9 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Humble Store), Xbox One, and Xbox Series. Versions for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2 will also arrive then. A Russian localization will be available. For one week, Valheim is offered at a 50% discount — for example, in the Valve store for just 549 rubles.
