Streamer Completed the Entire Dark Souls Trilogy Without Taking Damage Using a Saxophone
Fans of Hidetaka Miyazaki's creations have found countless ways to conquer their favorite "Souls" games. It might be easier to list the items gamers haven't used to take down Slave Knight Gael, the Nameless King, and many other inhabitants of the dark world of Dark Souls.
Now, the fan community of this beloved series has a new reason for pride and admiration. A streamer known as Dr. Doot completed the entire Dark Souls trilogy without taking a single hit, using an electronic saxophone as a controller. The final challenge was the battle with Gwyn, Lord of Cinder, a recording of which the skilled "saxophonist" published on X.
This accomplishment adds to the streamer's already impressive list of achievements. Previously, Dr. Doot completed Elden Ring without taking damage and also finished Bloodborne and Sekiro without dying. In all cases, he played not on a gamepad or keyboard but on a saxophone—an electronic wind instrument that responds to key presses and breath strength.
The streamer's unusual hobby is backed by his professional background. Dr. Doot holds a PhD in musical composition and has long experimented with alternative ways of controlling games. Besides the heartfelt FromSoftware projects, he has already conquered Cuphead, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, staying true to his unique musical "controller."
The streamer doesn't plan to stop there. He's now aiming for a complete playthrough of Hollow Knight with all the challenges from the Godmaster expansion, including the famous Pantheons, which are considered some of the toughest trials in the metroidvania genre.
