MARVEL MaXimum Collection Announcement – A Compilation of Classic Marvel Superhero Games
The company Limited Run Games has once again decided to delight retro gaming enthusiasts. Together with Marvel Games and Konami, the studio announced the compilation MARVEL MaXimum Collection. The release date has not yet been revealed.
The collection includes a whopping 13 projects. The publisher promises to preserve all key versions. If a game was released on multiple platforms, every major iteration will be added to the set.
Among the main hits is X-Men: The Arcade Game. The classic beat 'em up will return with support for online co-op for up to six players.
The collection also includes Captain America and The Avengers in versions for arcade cabinets, SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive, and NES.
Fans of Spider-Man will get several projects about the friendly neighborhood hero. The list includes Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage with versions for SNES and Genesis / Mega Drive, as well as the sequel Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety with a cooperative mode. Furthermore, the collection will add Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade’s Revenge — and not only the console versions but also portable variants for Game Boy and Game Gear.
Fans of the toasted super-being with silver skin haven't been left out either. The set will feature Silver Surfer for NES — one of the most hardcore projects of its era with a legendary soundtrack.
In addition to the games themselves, MARVEL MaXimum Collection will offer a digital archive with scanned covers, manuals, and advertisements, a built-in music player, rewind, and save states at any moment. Players will be able to choose a modern, sharp picture or enable a CRT filter. A museum section and a menu with cheat codes are also announced.
MARVEL MaXimum Collection will be released on PC, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
