Rumors are bubbling up online about a budget GPU in the current gen lineup — the GeForce RTX 5050. A fresh leak claims NVIDIA has picked some specific specs for an entry-level Blackwell-based update, though nothing is confirmed.
The key change: 9 GB of VRAM instead of the usual 8 GB. That comes from using 3 GB GDDR7 chips (3 × 3 GB = 9 GB), which forces a narrower 96‑bit memory bus rather than the 128‑bit bus on the present model. Still, the leak says memory bandwidth will climb because the chips run at 28 Gbps vs. 20 Gbps in the current parts — so narrower bus but faster Gbps per pin. How that balances out in real-world GPU throughput remains to be seen; leaks don’t always tell the whole story.
Beyond memory, the card is reported to be mostly the same as the standard RTX 5050 (GPU die, frequencies, etc.), or possibly fitted with a slightly beefier processor version that adds CUDA cores. No launch date has leaked yet — and yes, take this with a grain of salt until official specs appear.
