Marvel's Wolverine Breaks Records: A Strong Start Despite Skepticism

Marvel's Wolverine Off to Strong Start on PS5 With 1.9 Million Copies Sold

Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine has sold 1.9 million copies in its first three days on PlayStation 5, generating $130 million in revenue, according to data from analytics firm Alinea Analytics. The strong opening has quieted skeptics who doubted the game's potential.

Physical media accounted for nearly 23% of those sales. The United States was the largest market, making up 53% of purchases.

The launch has already pushed Marvel's Wolverine past Death Stranding 2 in total sales and ahead of MLB The Show and Marathon. While specialist outlets were measured in their praise, user ratings on the PlayStation platform have come in well above expectations.

The results suggest that, despite ongoing criticism of the so-called "Insomniac formula," the title has become PlayStation Studios' most successful release this year.
