Media: Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Was Made by 15 Ubisoft Studios
Apparently, 15 separate Ubisoft divisions had a hand in the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. The tally comes via Insider Gaming Tom Henderson. His post names these team locations:
- Singapore (main developer),
- Barcelona,
- Belgrade,
- Bordeaux,
- Bucharest,
- Chengdu,
- Da Nang,
- India,
- Kyiv,
- Montpellier,
- Montréal,
- Philippines,
- Shanghai,
- Sofia,
- Québec.
That many studios on what is, technically, a re-release is... notable. This version—Black Flag Resynced—is clearly not a straight port, i.e., it’s been significantly modernized (new tech, updated assets, etc.). To put the number in perspective: 16 teams were credited on AC Shadows, so big rosters aren’t unheard of in these projects.
Not every office will be around by launch; restructure moves have already cost jobs. For example, Ubisoft recently closed its Belgrade studio, which is a reminder that studio lists can be fluid (and, yeah, kind of messy).
The updated Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is scheduled for July 9 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), plus PS5 and Xbox Series. Russian localization will be included, but note: unlike the original release, it will be text-only.
