Media: The main actor will be replaced in the God of War series — Ryan Hurst injured
Several outlets report that work on the God of War adaptation has been paused. The reason: the actor cast as Kratos, Ryan Hurst, tore a biceps while filming. The story first appeared at TMZ and was quickly picked up by Deadline. Hurst has undergone surgery and is recovering; rehab could run from several months up to a year (approx. 6–12 mo., i.e., not quick). Given that timeline, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios have opted to recast the role.
Deadline also says Hurst did intense prep for Kratos — he added about 18 kg of muscle. He shot four episodes before the injury; those scenes will need to be redone. Filming is slated to restart in October. Who will step into Kratos’ boots is unknown for now, and release dates will be announced later.
