Minecraft's 26.20 update slipped into the release build with a catch: you can poke at some upcoming things now, but only as an experimental add-on. That means creating a fresh world and turning on experimental settings (i.e., nothing will show up in your existing saves).

The headline addition is a sulfur cave biome. Think shallow pools, glowing lichen, chunks of yellow sulfur and veins of red cinnabar—all tucked beneath sulfur springs. The vibe is... poisonous. Literally. Breathe too deep and the place feels hostile in a way Minecraft rarely is.

Also introduced: a new mob called the sulfur cube. It’s reactive — feed it different things and it behaves differently, so experimentation matters (e.g., you can make it slide or launch). Combat works oddly: strike it from the left and it will fling right; hit from below and it rockets up. Harder blows send it farther.

There’s an active sulfur block now, too. Placed underwater it generates bubble flows and puffs of poisonous gas; nearby players and mobs can end up nauseated. Not your typical cozy dungeon reward — more like a reminder that underground can be outright dangerous.

On the building side, sulfur and cinnabar yield new construction options: stairs, bricks and other yellow/red decorative pieces are available. And yes, some of the long-standing annoyances with grass and sea plants got patched.
