Bloober Team, Broken Mirror Games, and Anshar Studios have announced SAW: Genesis — a multiplayer horror set in the "Saw" universe. Matches will run in a 3 vs 1 arrangement and the developers plan to open the title in early access; an exact date hasn't been set.
The hour of judgement is upon you... Watch the reveal trailer of SAW: Genesis, the brand new 3vs1 Multiplayer Horror Game set 100 years before Jigsaw! The game is developed by @AnsharStudios in collaboration with @Lionsgate and @BMGhorrors, published by @BlooberTeam.
One player assumes the Judge role and runs the sadistic apparatus from the shadows. He isn't a muscle-driven chaser; instead his methods are surveillance, baited traps, hallucinogens and moral coercion — pushing players toward wrenching choices rather than simple kills. The team says the Judge's stated aim is to "rehabilitate" captives; to that end he can eavesdrop via a sound-tracking system, slip through hidden passages, and call in an assistant that shepherds prey into pre-set snares.
The other three are the Condemned. Survival requires coordination: searching for keys, solving puzzles and finishing trials before time runs out.
Maps are procedurally generated, so e.g. room layouts and routes will differ each match.
A striking design point is durable injury: decisions can inflict lasting harm that shapes the rest of a round. Players may face agonizing choices — sacrifice an arm or take a crippling leg wound to save others — and those effects stick for the match, i.e., no instant undo; lack of an arm makes object interaction harder, a busted leg slows you down.
SAW: Genesis will enter early access on PC via Steam. For now only the English localization is confirmed.
