Thanks to an experimental emulator on xbox series x it is now possible to run ps5 games

A modder has managed to run a PS5 emulator on an Xbox Series X by porting an existing PC emulator to the Microsoft console in developer mode.

The achievement builds on recent advances in PS5 emulation on PC. Emulators such as SharpEmu and KyTy have produced notable results: KyTy went from running the Demon’s Souls remake at around 1 frame per second to about 30 fps within a week, and has also driven Grand Theft Auto V at roughly 40 fps — an unusually high figure for an emulator.

YouTuber Devran Cosmo Uenal adapted the KyTyPS5 emulator for the Xbox Series X and released demonstrations under the experimental PS5X emulator name. Running the console in developer mode allowed him to load homebrew software and backup copies of PS5 titles into the early-stage emulator build.

In his videos he shows a selection of PS5 games functioning on the Series X, including GEX Trilogy, Hellboy Web of Wyrd, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Quake 2 — the latter was played live to showcase the emulator’s capabilities. Some of the tested titles already run with audio and controller support, though compatibility remains limited.

The PS5X project is clearly at an early development phase; the video description notes that substantial work remains before broader compatibility is achieved. Given the rapid pace of progress in the broader PS5 emulation scene — for example, SharpEmu has already run Ghost of Yotei on PC — it seems plausible that PS5X might eventually enable certain PS5 exclusives to run on Xbox Series X hardware.
