The company SEGA has released the 3D platformer Sonic Frontiers on Nintendo Switch 2. The new build carries a $49.99 tag. You can grab it as a download or as a physical cartridge that includes a game key.
Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition for Switch 2 includes:
- The base game.
- The story campaign The Final Horizon.
- Content from the Sonic’s Birthday Bash update.
- Content from the Sights, Sounds, and Speed update.
- A digital artbook and mini-soundtrack.
- Previously added items — the adventurer’s treasure chest, the collaboration set with Monster Hunter, boots from Sonic Adventure 2, and a Christmas outfit.
If you already own Sonic Frontiers on the original Switch, you can move saves over to the Switch 2 edition; there’s no free upgrade, though — just so it’s clear. SEGA also points out that the treasure-chest items show up only after starting a new game.
Beyond the two Switch versions, Sonic Frontiers runs on PC (Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox, and all releases include Russian localization.
The game plays out as an open-world platformer: the blue hedgehog wanders five large Starfall Islands, handling obstacle courses and tangling with cybernetic creatures — e.g., arena fights and roaming encounters, depending on how you approach it.
