Owner of Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat Aims to Release Major Hits in the Next Couple of Years
Executives David Zaslav and JB Perrette of Warner Bros. Discovery discussed the company's near future. They did not comment on a potential deal with Paramount, but touched upon the topic of the gaming division.
Last year was a "reboot" for Warner Bros. Games — and now players should expect some surprises. According to Perrette, Warner Bros. Games has previously focused on several key franchises, including Hogwarts Legacy (a sequel could be released in early 2027), Mortal Kombat, and more.
In 2026, gamers will also see several new games, for example, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. But Perrette promises that this is just the beginning — Warner Bros. game studios will start bearing "real fruit" in 2027 and 2028. Clearly, this refers to the release of new major games.
Management emphasizes that the new releases will pertain specifically to existing intellectual property. He did not specify particular games, but it could involve projects based on the Game of Thrones universe and DC comics, for instance. And that's not counting Hogwarts Legacy 2.
