The company Treyarch announced that its head Mark Gordon will step down to focus on the "next chapter" of his life. He joined in May 2005 as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and, by November 2016, was leading the studio. Across roughly 21 yrs he helped shape many entries in the Call of Duty line, including the whole Black Ops run. His role will be handed to a pair of co-leads, Kevin Hendrickson and Yale Miller. Treyarch calls them long-time Co-leads and Call of Duty vets with decades of dev & mgmt experience — a sensible-sounding handoff, though leadership changes rarely feel seamless to those inside.
On October 23 the next "Call of Duty" — Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward — arrives. Beyond the story campaign and classic multiplayer, it adds an extraction mode called DMZ. The game will be available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Battle.net) plus PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2. Whether fans see this as continuity or a fresh start is something only playtime will tell.
