Doubts in the Galaxy: Disney Unsure of Box Office Success for 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'
Disney has doubts about the box office potential of the film 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'. According to Variety, the project is marked with a "question mark" in the studio's internal documents and risks remaining a niche hit for fans.
The first trailer was criticized for its strange tone, the second was received more warmly, but caution remains. At the same time, the film has a record low budget for the Disney-era 'Star Wars' — $166 million.
In contrast, the studio is confident in the film 'Star Wars: Fighter' by Shawn Levy starring Ryan Gosling. The events will take place five years after 'The Rise of Skywalker'. Disney is betting on new theatrical launches not tied to series.
'The Mandalorian & Grogu' will be released on May 22, 'Fighter' — on May 28, 2027.
