The team behind Guacamelee! and Nobody Saves the World has delayed its Metroidvania Blighted, moving the launch window from 2026 to 2027. The studio announced the change in a post on Steam, saying it needs additional time to complete final refinements. A firm release date has not been announced.
In a development journal, the studio outlined several gameplay elements players can expect:
- players will navigate interconnected levels and search for secrets within them;
- the hero will have a base camp where various NPCs can be invited;
- as players progress, they will unlock alternative paths for movement;
- exploring the world will reward the protagonist with valuable prizes.
Blighted was originally revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025. The game pits players against corrupted bosses that have consumed the seeds of memories of our kin; defeating each such enemy restores a fragment of heritage but also intensifies the Blight — expanding the player's abilities while making the world more dangerous.
